Good evening everyone,I am new to this group as I am replacing the 964Targa that my Fiancee drove away in with a 1985 Cab. widebody. Its original 65000 miles and Im just about to import it from Texas to Canada. I know the transmission is different but I have a few questions. Can you help?
Will the seating position be different , On the 964 the seat rail could be adjusted? Im 6-2
What are the turbo brakes about?
Are their any safe easy performance enhancements available?
Anything out of the usual that I should be watching out for?
Looking forward to participating in the future. Thanks Doug
Welcome to Porsche Central Doug. Congrats on the 85 Cab. I just came from an 89 Cab. Other than the tranny, they are very similar cars. Bullet proof engine, corners like a roller coaster. It will feel quite different from the 964. It is manual everything and feels the road much more through the brakes and steering. I'm sure most of your questions will get answered here on rennlist.
BTW, what part of the great white north are you from?
oh and the turbo brakes are the same set up as the 930 so you will notice they feel stronger than a regular narrow body 911of that vintage but probably on par with the later 964's brakes.
Yep the seat rails are adjustable, I'm 6'3 and just manage, I dont think 964s have any more legroom, I've driven both. 964s feel more powerful no doubt, the 3.2 is more of a raw peakier engine, they still get going, not 964 fast but not far off.
my apologies for the thread hi-jack but spence please start a new one and post some pictures of that widebody coupe.......that car looks fantastic in your avatar
Lots of enhancements, but exhaust and re-tuning the DME via a chip are probably the most common. The brakes should be great, so no need for improvement there.
I too would like to know more about the missing car and fiancee. Sorry, but we in the US love drama...
