Default High Pressure OUCH!

Jacked up my fav Cab today and fired up the hogh pressure washer.

Never seen so much stuff.

Wheel wells look...OK the black paint or whatever it was came off easily. I drenched the engine area and wheel wells with gunk and 409. Engine looks awesome Tranny does also. Oil lines look great...........

Now my foot got in the way of the high pressure stream...........Please dont ask me how.......ah hell I'll tell ya any way.. you see I was drenched in dirt and I thought i would spray the dirt off my foot......................

Well Ihave a 1 inch gash on my toe that hurts like hell.........Holy carp that machine has some power......

I will take pics later I will begin the rear spring bushings this monday as my week long project during spring break

That's okay. I had a custodian that did the same thing and he was wearing slippers while doing the pressure washing. I did ask why he wasn't wearing the proper PPE.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. (to the car, not my foot)
I was just worried about getting water somewhere I shouldn't.
Or perhaps I am worried about knocking off to much gunk and then something falling off or something to that effect.

a couple of points .. keep that thing away from the paint,, will lift it no problem .. ask me how I know ..also make sure that was not the rust proofing that got lifted.. if so reapply, and lastly be care full what you spray on alluminum, or magnesium, wrong PH and it will turn it white as snow .. with those precaustions .. have a blast ..

Sorry about your foot, Loaded.

I think I posted about this a previous thread of yours, but...

You should NOT use a pressure washer on a transaxle.

I'll quote from a post by Grady Clay, a well-known Colorado Porsche shop owner and long-time professional racer. He was replying to a post on the Pelican BBS where a guy posted pictures of himself using a pressure washer on his 915:

Get that 915 gearbox apart asap. The pressure washer will force water past the differential (axle flange) seals and, if left for any length of time, damage the big tapered roller bearings that support the differential and ring gear.

Of course it can get in all sorts of other places – past other seals, breather. The seals are designed to keep oil from leaking out, not high pressure water from getting in.

Please get it completely disassembled, hot, dry and re-lubricated. Water in hidden places in a transmission spells D-E-A-T-H.

Thats what I was worried about Jack.

I was thinking that it would be way to easy to force water into places it should not be. Think I will stick to my one area at a time by hand way.

Pressure washers tend to cause a lot more damage than help. So keep the pressure low. So how did you do the engine?

Water will also eam out of it also. I will agree if the water is left in a rarely driven trany or one that is not lubricated or have its fluid changed it will kill it.

What does "eam" mean?

Probably worth a little concern about what water may have done...

Yeah, I don't have any personal experience with this, so it might be a case of worrying about a low-percentage problem. I'm only repeating what I saw happen in another thread.

I hope in Loaded's case that everything is okay and the tranny and its bearings live a long and happy life.

Easy fix. Any good body shop that specializes in P-car related mishaps will be able to bondo and respray that foot injury.
