Default Clewett Engineering High Performance Ignition Wires

It looks like I have to replace my wires- anyone have any experience with using these? The shop here in Van wants 400+ for a set Ugh.
TIA
Frank

Clewett wires are good alternatives but had some problems, you may want to do a search on pelican parts for some feedbacks. I, personally, would go with Magnecor wires, especially with the attractive low prices from Apex Performance. Here's the LINK to their site and I believe their also a Rennlist sponsor.

I'm seeing diff. color wires which seem to also be larger or smaller (8-8.5) due to color.
Any idea why?
Thanks

I like the quality of the Clewett wires but the last set I bought (several years ago) were a MAJOR **** to get on the plugs, very tight boots.

IIRC, 7 & 8 mm are blue and labeled as High Performance Wires, 8.5 & 10 mm are red and sold as Race Wires. A visit to MAGNECOR's web site should clear things up.

I went with Magnecore 8.5mm's on my 88 Carrera and they work very well. That's my recommendation. They are also recommended by Steve Weiner and he's been in the business a long time.

I recently bought the standard clewett wires from Pelican....installed now and run fine. I did, however, have to send the original set back to Clewett (Pelican wouldn't take them back, had to go to Clewett) as something was wrong with them when i first installed.

I do think my car runs smoother than it did a little. only issue i had was arranging the plugs on the cap...since the wires are thicker, i had to orient the plugs differently than stock to get them all to fit...no problems, just know that part.
