Default Benzels need to be removed

I forgot to mention that you must remove the metal benzel for the BMW switches to fit.... a dremel will do the job....cut only one corner and the benzel will come off

Default Benzel removal

This picture shows the proper corner cut....cut the corner, but before cutting through, lift the corner and then finish....protects the panel

Default Benzels are removed

The benzels are removed and after some light lubricant, you can push the BMW switches into place....takes alittle effort....tight fit....

Very cool. I like it. I only have one question to clarify - isn't the passenger side passenger window switch wired the same as the drivers side drivers window switch? I assume so, but wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, the passenger side is wired differently...the left switch which operates the driver's window is very similar, but a few wires are a different color and this switch provides connections to the right driver's side switch. The righ driver's side switch which operates the passenger's window is wired differently and with different colored wires....
The Brown wire is always connected on the same terminal for every switch...this is the ground.

Another 'thing' I forgot to mention, you do not need to remove the door panel. I did because I was also installing speakers and a power door lock system. It is easier to install the switches with the panels off...but it is no picnic reinstalling the door panels....love those little plastic connectors for the door lock lever and the door opening lever..... (:-)

Since no one else is going to ask, do you happen to have a pdf diagram of the passenger door switch? It doesn't hurt ask, right? I understand about the door panels. I've removed and reinstalled my fair share, and for something like this, I'd rather not. I was assuming I could remove the switches and replace them without removing the panels.

Thanks again,
Mike

How about a night time shot (or evening) of the switches? Isn't that what you were aiming for? To get their lit up function?

Not a problem. At least you know why I asked, huh? Thanks again for posting! I certainly appreciate it.
