Default Carrera 3.0 vs. 78 Euro SC

I am curious about differences and similarities between these two...also curious about price differences. I've read about the differences b'tween the Euro-spec and US-spec SCs and Carreras but haven't seen anything about these two models. There was a nifty looking 3.0 for sale on eBay (gone now) and it got me thinking about 'em. Anyone driven both and care to share their impressions?

Thx.

I used to own a 79 SC, my father in law has a 76 3.0 Carrera. The Carrera is about 20HP stronger, I couldn't tell that much difference but my SC ran very strong. The Carrera's used to be pretty cheap since they were grey market cars but I think they have gotten much more expensive.

There is a compression and cam difference. US Carreras have the US 2.7. Euro SCs went back to that cam in 81 I think, along with a bump in compression. Euro exhaust is a lot like the SSI manifolds, IIRC. Similar torque, more on the high revs with the euro.

According to GTmagazine:
carrera 3 - 1075kg & 200hp
'78 SC - 1210kg & 188hp

I believe C3s are pretty rare and command bigger $$$

I've compared those exact cars (both euro examples) before, about a day apart when I was looking to buy a 911. Probably more to do with condition, but the 911SC had a much nicer gearbox (same 915) and felt more torqey from low revs. I remember revving the guts of the Carrera 3.0 to get any power. I wouldn't day there's a lot in it but I'd go for the SC just because Carrera 3.0s have some unique parts that are getting harder to get hold of... Also, the rust protection was superior on the SC.
