Well, first of all, thanks for the good thoughts on me getting here. Gracias.
Secondly, I'm here.
Now for the bad.
Somewhere outside of Tacoma, I developed a noise. Two actually.
First- under throttle, I can hear an intake whistle- ala turbo. Which would be okay if I had same. Not overly loud but non-the-less audible.
Second- Although it makes me want to heave saying this, it sounds like a bearing. Loud bearing. As in ready to grenade. However: while it seems to become louder while in traffic, it will go away when you get it up to speed. Almost harmonic in nature. Over 3k rpm it goes away, and is almost gone after driving at speed then slowing down. I have no idea who to take it to in the area, (Burnaby) so any help in that aspect would be good too.
Also- I had the a/c on in Phoenix. the only time I had it on. lukewarm air bathed me. so I shut it off. Could the compressor be about to crap out and that is where the noise is coming from?
TIA for your thoughts/help
Frank

Frank,

Do you have a 3.2?? check your vacuum lines for the whistle, especially the one that goes into the back of the throttle body. Do you have the stock air box or Cone filter? As far as the bearing on the A/C compressor, just remove the belt and see if it goes away. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the heads up on the vacuum line. Ive considered doing same w/belt, however still shaking off the trip today, and trying to stay away from the car. Will let you know how it shakes out. I will probably take the car to Scan tomorrow. Thanks again for the help.

Nope, I have never used any repair shops
I know someone that works there, and they have a good rep.
