Question Mixing wheel sizes

I've noticed that other performance cars do this; run smaller diameter wheels on the front than on the rear.
Question is.... could you run 15x8 on the front and 16x8 on the rear of a narrow-bodied 84 coupe? I currently have 15 x7 on the front & 15x8 on the rear.
I'm not sure it would be much benefit (if any) except that you might be able to get 'beefier' tires on the back end.

I know doing this with an all wheel drive model would be bad.

Don't think the 15 x 8's would work in the front with the 10.6mm offset.

I know Vette's do that and I think some Ferrari's. I don't know what the benefit is though.

The diameter change won't make for much of a difference. But running 8's front and rear will change the way the car handles at speed, especially if you run the same tire width.
