Default backdate heater. is this an easy job and what parts are required.

I was thinking about backdating the heater in my 79sc to a 74ish set up. What parts will i require and where do i find them. Is this an easy job and is it advisable that i do this. My heater blower currently doesnt work as it causes a whole other issue when its connected (dam gremlins) and it doesnt ever get that cold here so i dont think i need it.

Right hot air duct, 911.106.327.00, list $53.45
Right engine cover plate, 911.106.036.00, list $14.89

Right air duct support, 911.106.331.00, list $1.30 Can't upload pix (too large) but search and you will find.

Alan,
thanks for that. is that all the parts i need? have you done this mod? does it all just bolt on or do i have to cut tinwear and modify parts to make it fit. Where did you buy these parts from?
Cheers.
Vince.

is that all the parts i need?

Those are the parts I used, didn't need any others.

[I][I]have you done this mod?

Yes, I can't post pix (too large). Not difficult, take your time, take digital pix, in case you want to return to stock set-up.

does it all just bolt on or do i have to cut tinwear and modify parts to make it fit.

It all just bolts on. I got parts from various sources, place an add on rennlist/pelican parts (pelicanparts.com) and list parts with numbers. The hardest part to find is:

Left hot air duct, 930.106.321.02. Try some dismantlers who advertise in porsche mags. I found a carbon fiber piece on pelican. I was not looking for cf, but it was available and I got it.

Hope that helps, post any follow up questions, I'll try and answerr.

You can get used old style ducts for the engine and mod the left one to save some cash. I did this recently and it came out well, but it does require a bit of cutting and welding. The issue is that the larger distributor fouls the early left duct.
