My 88 Targa has been sleeping in my garage since October. I knew the battery would be dead, but I did not think about one of the tires going flat...The tread is good and I think it is just a slow leak due to inactivity. Do I need to be concerned, or just re-inflate the tire when Spring arrives?

I would reinflate the tire as soon as possible. There is a possibility of damage to the sidewall from the rim/wheel flange pressing into the tire.

Also...remove battery or try to put a Battery Tender type of charger on it. I don't know if your garage has any heat, but if it can get below freezing a dead battery can freeze and crack. That would not be pretty having battery acid splilling into the car.

I agree with David that you need to address the flat tire issue before you damage that tire. Since you can't drive the car, now would be a good time to get that rim and tire off the car and get the tire repaired. Inactivity will not cause a tire to go completely flat. You may loose a few psi over the winter storage months, but never enough to completely deflate a tire that was left at the proper pressure when put away.

Also, for winter storage, pump up the tires to the maximum pressure that is noted on the sidewall. That helps a bit with flat spotting of the tires for cars that are stored for the winter. Just remember to set the pressures correctly when you yank the car out in spring.

also parking on a piece of dense styrofoam helps preserve the tyre. Personally I use carpet and have never had an issue.

IceMan, I, too, would love to park my car in my living room, but the girlfriend won't let me!
