205s fit on a short-wheelbase 911?
My friend Frank here in The OC has a super-clean '67 911 and is looking for tires. He's got 15" McAfee alloys (sp?). Will a 205 fit under the original fenders or is he stuck with the 185s? And who in the world makes 185s any more anyhow?
Thanks for any help.
Chris (posting for Frank)
PS: Tried search function here AND in the tire and wheel forum but couldn't get any hits, probably due to incompetence.

No direct experience, but I believe it's accepted that you'll need at least a 6" width on the rims for 205's (the original factory rims would have been 4 1/2 or 5 1/2").
Clearance might be right, or you might even have to roll the fenders, depending on the offset of the rims.
Maybe check TireRack or another of the online stores for selection--205's, I think I've seen 195's and 185's available. To check for circumference/rolling diameter, the original tires wold be the equivalent of 165 82 15s.
