Default 993 seats into a 72 911?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to transplant leather recaros from a 993 into a 72 911, as I'm not sure, but think the 993 cabin may be a bit bigger?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Why would you want to do that? The seats in my 993 are one of my least favorite things about the car (seats are heavy and uncomfortable with minimal side bolsters). I think I'd consider going aftermarket myself...

The 993 is a lot bigger than the early 911, but I imagine the seats would fit. Those seats are very heavy and, as GrantG noted, they're just not very good seats.
There's a couple of companies that make good quality "correct" buckets resembling the RS buckets of the day. I saw an ad in one of the magazines not too long ago; probably in Excellence.

Actually, I think the 993 and 1969+ 911 is the same size, other than the fender flares and bumpers. Cabin is the same...

Grant is right, the basic 911 interior dimensions stayed the same from 1965 to 1998...

Thanks for the replies.

I would want to do that as;
The period recarros are rather pricey.
I don't like RS bucket seats.
And I've been offered a very nice pair of black 993 seats which I feel, though not period won't look completely out of place. Bearing in mind not all the seats fitted in the 993 were the same design.

You may want to check to make certain that the seat rails are the same dimensions and bolt-holes match with a pre-73 floor ...they just "may" be different --not sure myself.
