Bought two 6-packs of Mobile 1 (15w-50) today at Cosco. So I have to stop reading this thread because I change my mind with each post.

Pete Z has recommended on several ocassions that Kendall 20w50 GT-1 was a very good oil. I have access to it and wondered if it is a viable alternative to the VR1?
If I recall correctly, Pete said Kendall used to be a good oil, but then they were bought by, I think, Conoco and the formulation changed and even the color of the oil changed. Kendall used to be made from Pennsylvania crude. They say that the old Kendall formula is still made by Brad Penn oil, but Pete said he didn't have experience with it yet.

And yes, put the EOS in with the VR1.

Hey arbeitm,

Is that Cosco or Costco? Just wondering because we have Costco here in Seattle. How much was the 6 pack? Thanks.

I have used the brad penn racing 20w50, and it is very good, similar to but not better than Royal Purple IMHO. TBN was kind of low, but indeed, it was green and those I spoke to swear that the good ol' green oil is great for long rod bearing life (at least drag racing!)

That said, if it was between Castrol GTX 20w50 and Brad Penn, I would go with the Brad Penn.
