Wheels on a Carrera

I have a couple of sets of Fuchs 6 and 7 X 16 wheels... One set were take offs when the car had 500 miles on them and had P6s that looked like new but were hard as rocks.
My concern is that the wheels don't seem to really fill out the wheel wells on my '84 Coupe.
I had a chance to talk with Harvey Weidman about this and he said 9 X 16 rears with either 8 or 7 X 16 Front.
Anyone ever done this combo that can comment about fit, rub, change in feel etc would be appreciated. Pics would be even better!

Rob -
I have wheel spacers / adapters on my '84, to run later-model offsets ('92 C2 5-spokes). With the 6 /7 x 16 Fuchs, the wheels fill the flares with the spacers during the winter (I have snows mounted on the Fuchs).
Not trying to get into the whole 'spacers are the debil' crusade, just saying.

PS - I keep a can of these in the office for when someone used the cliche.

I was looking into 8's and 9's a few months ago. Finding them wasn't the problem. Finding them for a reasonable price was another thing. I was typically seeing $ 800 - $ 1,200/wheel for either size.

Hi.......I never see anyone talking about 15" Fuchs .... I have 7 x 15's on the front with 195/65 Yokohama's & 8 x 15's on the rear with 215/60 Yokohama's on my '86 Carrerra Coupe..seems fine...any reason to go to 16's?

Personally, I think you may be pushing it on the front with 8x16. 7x16 is far more reasonable. 8 or 9 by 16 is fine for the rear. Depending upon the tire brand and design you will probably have to roll the left front fender,--as a minimum, with 7s,--certainly with 8s.
The most cost effective choice is the 7s in front and 8s in the rear. I never cared for the 6x16 look at all.
