Rocker shaft installation - prelube?
Hello,
Preparing to install rocker shafts into an 81SC. The books don't mention anything about using assembly lube. I know when you tighten up the bolts to 13N.m the ends of of the rocker shafts expand into the bores. I know I should prelube the center of the rocker shaft as well as the bushing of the rocker with assembly lube, but should I keep the stuff off the ends of the rocker shaft so it will seal better? Or should I just lightly lube the ends of the shafts with motor oil? Thanks.

James: The process works better if you install the rocker shafts dry. Be sure that the shaft and bore are perfectly clean, and as Ronin states, fill the lube holes in the rockers with oil!

Ronin and Pete,
Thanks. That looks like how I will do it, dry. It is not described on the Competition Engineering website anymore, but I found something under a search including Walt Whitman.
