Post Just got my first [and second] 911

I've had a 1993 VR6 Corrado for about 3 years now. I've never owned anything but VWs, but I've finally decided that it doesn't make sense to spend thousands of dollars modifying one. I have friends who have spent in excess of 10,000 dollars to get 300 hp out of a VW...and I've ridden in it...and it's a fairly disgusting experience. FWD

At any rate, the actions of others made me decide that I didn't want to supercharge my VR6.

Instead I bought a 1979 911 SC.

Then a month later, I found another one that I just had to have. I think my father is going to buy the '79.
This one is a 1982 wide body with an '86 3.2 liter. The engine was built by Richard Viglione from Carolina Speedwerks....he sure did an amazing job

by the time I got home in NY from North Carolina I was deaf and frostbitten

I have a lot to learn...time to buy a bently and get dirty. The tach in the '79 just stopped working...and there are a few electrical things that need attention in the '82. I hope one day I'll be like Porsche Bob

That is a really sweet 82 there Paul.

"I hope one day I'll be like Porsche Bob"

Thats funny, I wish I could tap into Bob's Porsche knowledge and 'download' whats up there. I try to go by his place as much as possible to chat, see whats new, and see what 'new' parts he has laying around for sale.

I've had my 82 since Feb. 02 and have performed almost all the major work (valve adj., tune up. new oil lines). Each project is more confidence building and I'm currently planning an engine drop to take care of the internal thermostat, clutch, and oil leaks. While it's out, also adj. the valves again, oil fed tensioners, and a bit of detailing. Then comes the suspension revamp. On my way to becoming Porache Charlie

I honestly feel though that all this work is possibe and within my mechanical limits, espically with the wealth of knowledge to be found here and on Pelican. Good luck Paul...feel free to dive in. The making of Porsche Paul

That 79 is gorgeous! I really don't care much for the color red, but the 82 looks impressive in it's condition.

If I could afford it, I would buy one of every model (except that VW joint effort truck thingy. I think it is called the cry-annne or something )
