Default Leather dash recover for 911

I just finished recovering our first 911 dash and shifter in leather. Its Porsche classic gray with silver stitching.
I'm also doing the glove box and bottom section which will match the color and stitching.
Top section $599 Installed
Bottom section and glove box $349 installed

Guaranteed against cracking, fading, lifting and seam unraveling for one year.

If you old dash is cracked, it can be repaired. We open and fill the cracks with flexible filler, feather it and then cover the dash with foam which is adhered to the dash. The leather goes on top of the new foam. Repairs when done with the recover run 50-$150. We've done several dozen 928 and 944 dashes with this process.

We can do vinyl cover for a bit less but the cover will have the same seam pattern as the leather dash. We don't do vacuum forming, so we can't give you the look of factory vinyl.

We don't have any shifter parts, so all we can do is recover one that you send us. $99

What year 911 was that from? The shifter appears to be of 996 heritage..

Default A couple questions

The example in your pictures looks fantastic. Here are my questions:

What does the term "installed" mean? Do you actually remove and install the dash? If I don't live near you, does that mean that you can take the dash that I ship to you and do your magic, then ship it back? And is the cost lower?

My car is an '82 911SC and the interior is in dark blue according to the COA. Can you match any Porsche color?

Finally, are you a Rennlist sponsor? I know they warn against non-sponsoring vendors advertising on Rennlist. You may want to do something about that so they don't zap you.

First of all Yes I am a Rennlist Site Sponsor. It says so, right under my name on the left.
Does it not show that designation on your screen? (I'm not being flip, sometimes it comes and goes according to star movement and tides I think)

Installed means installing the cover on the dash, not R&R from the car. I've done a couple dozen R&R of the panel on 928s, but none on the 911.

We use the Porsche spec vinyl and leather unless the customer requests something else, like Alcantara. Many of the original Porsche colors are still available in Porsche spec leather so we can match most of them.

Looks great -- how much for black leather on an early dash (w/ radio cover)?

How much for black leather on the door panel tops? And do yo remove the existing vinyl to do them?

Also, can explain the advantages of Alcantara over leather?

Thanks.

Default I may not have noticed it

I'm glad you're a sponsor and it may have been there and I didn't notice. Sorry for any inconvenience.

          Thanks!
The dash with the radio cover can be done for the same price.
I'll have to check on the door panel tops. I know I don't have a pattern but it shouldn't be too hard to get one.
Removing vinyl depends on how the original is constructed. If its a vacuumed formed piece, it usually stays.

Alcantara is ultrasuede made from synthetic fiber. It wears well, doesn't shrink or transmit glare and is easily cleaned. Its used in some high end imports and is slowly making its way into some domestics.
The cost runs about 25% more than leather.

The 928 and 944 have the same issues with the dash, perhaps worse. I've been recovering 928 dashes for several years with a good amount of success. I think I charge a fair price for the amount of skill and work involved and provide a reasonable warranty.
As cores and new parts become scarce I expect market forces will affect the prices.

The web site is always a work in process. I wish I had the time to add all the stuff I think it should have. I try and take a few hours each week to add some info and will add some of the things you mention.

Some Porsche leather and vinyl match very well, some doesn't. It can be done if we compare the leather hide to be used and the vinyl to be sure it looks OK.

                  Thanks for the comments.

No you didn't miss it because I checked too.. but it is there now so are squared away .. looks real nice .. did we get a consensus on wether you can take the dash out without the windsheild ? I thought there was some debate on that a while ago. I can see if the windsheild has to come out it could be a bit of a problem .

                  Default Windshield out

My recollection is that you need to take the windshield out which is problematic for a DIY. I understand that it isn't impossible but that putting it back in is definitely a professional's job.

Agreed. Not a complete DIY project.
I'm more ambitious than many here and I decided to use a pro for the glass installation.
yes, unless your dash has the single defrost vent along the back edge (nearest the glass), AND it is original to the car, the glass needs to come out because the leather or vinyl is under the windshield seal and it has screws that are holding the dash tight.

I'm gonna be sending you a PM Rob, I have lots of questions.

                  Ice,
I checked the website and he does list Cork! I have sent him an e-mail about pricing but it was bounced back. I'll try a PM.
