Default 911 SC Air Pump

Hi

This may be a question for UK owners only but I would like to hear any views. I have just bought a 911SC and it has a belt driven air pump which I believe is something to do with emisssion regs in the USA. I am told it serves no purpose in the UK and mine is disconnected, ie there is no belt bewteen it and the flywheel. If the pump really has no purpose in the UK then I guess this makes sense.

Does anyone else have a view on this.

Thanks

Mike

i just had mine removed, which makes working on the engine much easier. didnt affect anything at all although you must seal the head where the pipework connects to the pump.

Thanks for the reply. Why did you remove it rather than just leaving it disconnected?

It was really just an eye sore for me and it cleaned up the engine bay and underneath the car really nicely for me. The pump was already gone when i got the car and there was just the plumbing and hardware left over. I see my pics are no longer there but I may have a pick of the bolts I put in ...
