Post Diecast Porsche Models

Is anybody else into these things in the off season? I have a few of them (maybe 95 of them) but not too many of them are 80's. Seems there is a real drought of 1985-1989 Porsche models both diecast or plastic. Do any of you posess rare late 80's 911's or 944's for that matter? If so, please post some pictures. If I didn't own a real one, my collection wouldn't be complete.

Cool models. Where can I get one. Can't spring for the real thing right now, but it would be cool to have a small one my desk. For motivational purposes, and of course, the occasional day dream. Thanks.

I also collect diecasts, I have a good thirty. Nobody seems to make anything between the 73 RS and the 993(except the speedster and slant nose) in 1/18 scale. I have seen just about every model offered in 1/43 however. There seems to be a huge price range in the 1/43 also. If you are like me and are a big fan of the 956 and 962 then you have to buy 1/18. Eagles race anounced they would be making 1/18 scale 962s about two years ago. I immediately oredered them and am still waiting for them to be released.

There is a 78-89 Coupe in the Porsche Evolution collection in 1/43. I too, only want that specific model (SC or Carrera) and don't want to buy the entire set. Anyone interested in the other cars in the set? I beleive they are as follows:
Early 911S
78-84
964
993
996

E-Mail me if you are interested in any of the other ones and I can buy the set and sell the others. Of course the price would be 1/5 of the total. (I've seen them for $175 a set)

Very nice models and pictures. Thanks for posting them. I have about 10 Porsche models, mostly 1/42 scale.

But how about one you can actually drive during the winter? For Christmas I got a radio controlled Kyosho Mini Z silver Porsche GT3 (they also have Viper, Audi, Merc, BMW Z8, Honda S2000, etc.). It looks great (nicely 1/28 scaled, about 6.5" long), goes like stink, and is very sturdy (thankfully). Runs on 4 AAA batteries. The car runs well completely stock, but there are also hop-up parts available. Some of them make a difference in speed/handling. Suitable for racing (I used to race 1/10 and 1/12 scale rc cars). The car with transmitter (needs 8 AA batteries, but they last a long time) cost $130 at Tower Hobbies (www.towerhobbies.com), or a little more (but you won't have to wait for the mail) at your local hobby shop. You can also check them out at www.kyosho.com.

Revelle has a 911 Coupe that I believe is a 1989 but it may be a Turbo. The closest thing I have is the Polystil (Tonka) 911 Turbo (930). I also have the NZG 1989 Carrera Cab pictured above in white. They are very hard to find.

I have a 72T Targa. I am currently making a model of it even though you cannot find this car (that I know of). I have purchased an 85 Carrera Targa and 69 S coupe and I am mixing and matching to build my car. There are actually a number of late model Porshces if you guys are interested. The models I got were imported from Japan. They are Testors/Fujima Mokei 1/24 scale. The line of Porsche models I was talking about come from this company and you can expect to pay about $35 for the model if you need to order it, or much less if a dealer has one in stock or his private collection. (They always have a collection) If you are interested and cannot find these, call Top Shelf Models in the Tulsa Metro area at (918) 274 - 0433 and they can help you.

I on the other hand am looking for a Die Cast 72 Targa. If anyone knows of one please email me at Rhorton600@aol.com.

Thanks

I cant wait to tell my wife of this thread- she thinks Im the only 40 y/o still collecting toy cars. (last count ~ 30)

Finding models of my '87 911 Cab is next to impossible (let alone finding one in the same color scheme - white/navy) so I know excatly what you mean about their scarcity. (If anyone has one to part with email me!)

Panorama has had a few articles on the subject the latest had web site info. on dealers, etc.

Although the highly detailed ($$$) models like some of the ones above are really incredible I like the cheapy ones too (I dont know- something about a $2 plastic 911 that appeals to me) - I recently found some pretty nice "matchbox sized" GT3s at a local dollar store - they'd sell for $5 ea. on eBay! ;-) - Those I can bring through the front door, the $$$ ones just somehow appear on my shelf...I call it the Porsche fairy.....
