911 carrera 3.2 1989 - 200 K miles
#16
Years ago, I drove a 1986 911 coupe with 220,000 miles on it. I knew the previous owner and he took meticulous care of it and that car had 10k on a new motor and 30k on a new transmission. It drove a lot better than my well maintained '86 with 92k on it at the time. So, these cars do last. However, that doesn't mean you should skip a PPI! Do your homework.
You also need to find out when the transmission was rebuilt, if ever. Freshening up the G-50 tranny is expensive...

The 1988 Celebration Edition car (sometimes called the Signature Edition) was the 911 that had Ferry's signature embroidered in the leather seats. This option code/model signified the 250,000th 911 produced. It was produced only in Diamond Blue Metallic. Special carpets, wrinkled leather look on the seat and painted centers in body color on the 15" Fuchs were part of the option package.
The 1989 Silver Anniversary Edition was available in model year 1989 and that signified the 25th year of 911 production.
Colors of this Silver Anniversay Edition car were either in Silver Metallic or Satin Black Metallic. Options in this package were supple leather, painted wheel centers to match paint color, short shift, high intensity windshield washer, headlight washers, rear wiper on coupes, electric Cab top, cruise, spoilers, hi-fi sound, amplifier and sunroof.
The Porsche 911 Red Book is wrong and Peter Morgan's "Original Porsche 911" book is also incorrect. Both books seem to merge these models, however, they are two separate cars and model years.
AIC had a Silver Anniversary model for sale recently. Here it is: '89 Silver Anniversary
Hope this helps! (No offence Ice!!)

The bottom ends on these cars can run forever, but if I were looking at a car with 200,000, I would want a full rebuild. I'm not sure why they didn't spring for the extra money to do the entire engine. They would then be able to sell the car for $20k and that would be worthwhile.

A local owner in Raleigh had a 85 Carrera with 250,000 miles. He had a full motor rebuild, G-50 transmission conversion with about 20,000 miles on it. Car was in decent shape (interior was on the worn side) and he was originally asking $15,000.
Ended up selling for $8,000 12 months later.

I've the same SA!!!
Nice car.....I just recently purchased my first 911,...quite similar to yours' indeed.....She had top and bottom done in the mid 91K mile range,...****loads of other stuff throughout the PO's 8 years...well documented service history....this PO spared NO expenses for anything...suspension, CVs,on and on........I bought her with 115K on this engine and am slowly becoming comfortable with the decision of not batting an eye when he asked $21,900 (here in GA.) I posted a spreadsheet populated with all intervals and what was done. Over the 8 years of the PO's ownership, he easily dropped over $30K (parts and labor) in this sweety....PO did NO work of any kind HIMSELF, leaving ALL tasks to the P-wrench experts. The mentioned $$$$ reflect ALL and everything related to the car<<<<<<>>>>>>> to include oil changes, tires, all interval services and non-interval service, etc.
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!! I didn't even know what the SA was until after I got it! Icing on the cake, for me>>>>>> Here's a pic..
Congrats on the car: ENJOY!
Best to all<
