The car has a stock 2.7 and a wide body is a heavier car. Gonna have to do something with it for more HP. Either a rebuild to a radical 2.7 or an engine trasplant to something bigger. And the stock brakes are not much for track use on that heavy a car either. If you are gonna race it as a stock class car, Wide Body not the way to go. I have a 77 wide body and its a lot of fun with the 3.6 in it but it would not quallfy as a stock class car.

I'm surprised it still has the original 5 blade fan, but it has fancy speakers

By "track only", do you mean to PCA Club Race or to DE? If CR then it's NG as the widebody conversion alone will put you into a group where you won't even be close to competitive. For DE only, as long as the body is straight it could be a good basis for a fun DE car. Add a roll bar, 6 point harness, real racing seats, better suspension, upgraded brake pads, front oil cooler, etc. and go!

DE car is what I had in mind, not Club Racing. Thanks for the input..trying to find one all ready to go is a chore and it looks like I may have to build it myself slowly.

In that case that widebody, if it passes a good PPI including body condition, wouldn't be a horrible place to start. Add about $15K+ for a good shop to make it 100% track ready or $10K+ DIY.

Or you can look at the Race Cars for Sale section in PCA Mart and get one properly done and save yourself many $thousands...

Try Pelican parts For Sale section? I see you have a vehicle that can pull an open aluminum trailer so you can get a dedicated track car (not tagged) , yes?

I have a 1978 911SC

Quick Details:
Whale Tail
H4 Headlamps
944 8-way power seats
Correct Offset 7x16 and 8x16 ROH Wheels
930 Steering Wheel
Pop-off valve
Carerra Chain Tensioners
Turbo Valve Covers

She has around 130,000 miles and runs perfect. The previous owner told me the motor was rebuilt (It has now been about 8K since rebuild.) The car has been repainted in places and the paint is decent, but to be perfect will need repainting. The wing is aftermarket fiberglass and needs repair (paint is starting to chip.) The car does leak a little oil by the timing cover (driver's side) and slightly around the drain plug. I put about a quart in it every 1800 miles.

I could probably post more info, but if you are interested let me know. I am in Dallas, so if you know someone that could take a look...I would be happy to show them. The car is not perfect and when I saw the ebay post you had, I think my vehicle would probably make a better fit for you. It is the original 3.0L

9,000.00 but there is some room to play if you are going to make a track car. I could remove the radio I have, and more then likely you will not need the seats (I would resell them to bring down the price.)

Let me know either way. I will probably post on Pelican as well.
