Post Rough running possible cure.

I've been chasing a rough running problem for three months and got a lot of good advice from the forum.

In chasing this problem down, Iv'e replaced the DME relay,CH temp sensor, filters etc. All worthwhile, fun projects but they did'nt get it done.

I decided to inspect/replace the plugs to see about ignition problems and found the culprit.

The grommet on the plug lead just downstream of the 90deg elbow, was not seated against the sheet metal( apparently by the last mechanic ). Since it was on the passenger side fore most plug ( aka # 6) under the airbox It wasn't noticeable.

Result was that moisture/condensation collected there and caused corrosion on the plug post and inside the connector, causing the miss.

Replaced the plug(s) and cleaned the connector as best I could with a Dremel tool and the car runs strong.( Does anyone know of a chemical agent I could swab into the connector to remove this corrosion? the Dremel wan't able to get much).

Anyway, much cheaper than new wires, dist cap etc.

Good idea to be aware of this when working with plugs or ignoition wires.
