Post Central locking system '87 Carrera

Question: The "key" icon on the center console on my 911 is lighted always, not just when the doors are locked. Is this normal? At night, it is very bright, and cannot be dimmed or turned off. Ideas?

I echo your thought. When the doors are locked, the light is even brighter. As an addition to this, when the solenoids activate the little "blinking light" in the lock stems, there's a very high-pitched beep. Has anyone found a way to mute that little beep? Has anyone even heard it?

For both of these reasons, I just drive with the doors unlocked. Probably not the best way to go about it. Any thoughts are welcome.

I used a small piece of black masking tape to cover the light cheap fix but it works.
