Default SC Parts availability

I am looking at SC's. What challenge is there to get replacement parts ?

Which parts are difficult to get ? This is both mechanical, and body components.

TIA.

as 20+ yr old cars go, SC parts are easy to find, at worst you can get 'em used. or do what old Italian car owners do - buy extras.

I've not yet had or heard of any problems obtaining the usual mechanical stuff. The good news is that 911s, especially the SC-through-Carrera years, are very popular and so if you can't find OEM, chances are excellent you'll find it in the aftermarket (a huge industry for this car in comparison to other 20+ year old cars). And then there is the vast used market. With body parts, you'll be relying on used, or fg reproductions. All told, it IS an aging car so you may have problems on more obscure items, but die-hard ownership has kept the parts availability vibrant. Best of luck on your hunt ...SCs are superb cars

I get all my used stuff from these guys. Easy to follow diagrams makes for error-free ordering. Good prices too.

It is pretty easy to get anything on an SC except for certain CIS components. Items like new fuel distributors and warmup regluators are simply not available for all years of 911SCs anymore, and you have to get rebuilt, which can be a crapshoot since a CIS fuel distributors are such a precision manufactured part.

Ice,

Is there any danger of shock from the ignition coil?

I hope you are kidding about the coil-- if not you are in no danger if the car is not running. However if it is and you decide to pull the coil wire to check for spark make sure you have a depend on.

I was able to get a old VW coil and hit it with Krylon and it came out really nice. I have a MSD coil that is red and I am about to put that one on. A little scratched up but I will leave it alone

I concur with Edward's post--I've never had a problem finding parts. I recently had to replace my fuel distributor--I found them new, but over $1,500! I purchased a rebuilt from Vertex Auto for about $350 and no problems so far...

Definitely gotta spray that part.. that shiney coil just makes me wanna puke ... there is no real danger from the coil. just don't get near the secondary while the car is running. I have had my coil off a half dozen times no problem nothing builds up with the ignition off. With the engine on on it could definitely kill you if you are having a bad day , or certainly curl your hair on a good day.
