Comments on WEVO shifter

I originally had new Porsche sport mounts which unfortunately allowed the transmission to move under hard braking and maximum accleration. This caused me to miss shifts and to be unable to feel the shift when it happened. I spoke to Steve Weiner and he got me the WEVO mounts which cured these problems. The WEVO mounts do transmit a great deal of engine noise and vibration so I would not use them on a street car. My SC is a pure track car now.

Eric, or anyone who has experience :
My transmission mounts are weak. Are WEVO good for fast road/ occassional track use, or are they too harsh ? My car is a EURO 78SC with 3,2 engine

The WEVO mounts transmit allot of vibrations and noise. For car that is mainly used on the road, I would go with Porsche sport mounts.

Yes, the cabriolet mounts.

Re: the gate shift, this requires opening up the 915, no? I ask because I have a 915 rebuild pending and would rather add it to the while I'm in the list in that case. 99.99% track use.

The gate shift requires the transmission to be dropped and opened.
The WEVO parts are on my 1978 911SC, which has a full cage and completely stripped of any interior sound proofing. I had the cabriolet engine and transmission mounts on the car initially. They worked fine for awhile until I had the engine rebuilt with more hp and really started pushing the car. I then had significant shifting problems that were due to tranmission movement under braking and under full acceleration. These problems went away with the WEVO mounts. As I stated earlier, the WEVO mounts transmit allot a vibration and noise. This is not a problem on a track car, but it will be a problem on a street car.

Did you do the Wevo shift upgrades all at once or piece by piece? I'm curious what kind of difference the gate shift upgrade in particular makes.
Thanks,
