its a 74 carrera with a 3.0liter turbo, intercooled with B&B, roll bar, etc.. Car has been lightened with RS door panels, all the heating equipment, a/c, radio yanked out, fiberglass rear fenders and RS bodykit.. i read somewhere the 74 911T weighed in at 2319 with 2.7 iiter so i would imagine mine was less than that but i'm not sure.. how much do you guys think it might weigh with that 3.0liter in there??

Hi Rob:
LOL,...you really don't want to put a 930 gearbox in that thing; its a major step backwards.
If you use a late-model aluminum-cased 915 with an 8:31 R&P and install a pressurized oiling system with a good pump & cooler, your Turbo engine will handle that just fine. The mag-cased 7:31 915's are nowhere as strong,..

what about the possibility of a short bellhousing G50?? i know the regular G50s are a VERY costly install and would wipe out the torsion bars in the rear, but i've heard the short G50 is a good choice.. i think right now i have a regular ole 915 with short gears.. i give it a week

What years are the alum vs magnesium trannys? I'm new to this game. Got a 74 tranny with my 75 project, and am wondering where to go for more info. Is this a 915? Any good websites on the subject? Will need a motor eventually, are there good websites for what fits and what doesn't? Or will any aircooled 911 motor fit (i.e. fit tranny and in car)?
thanks,
brian (still in early info-gathering stage)
