Default 1st road trip with new '83 :)

Hi All,

Just got back from 3 days and 1500km of windy backroads
Although it's the middle of winter here (Vic, Australia),
we were lucky enough to have un-interrupted sun and never
had to put the top up.
We did have to resort to scarves and beanies as we crossed
the ski-fields at Mt Hotham. We got quite a bit of attention from
skiers as we passed under the chair-lifts.
We can also report that 7-year-olds on bikes in the Ovens valley
have excelent taste: "Nice car guys", and that 4-year-olds in Sale
know a thing or two, Mother: "Look that car has no roof!",
4-year-old: "The roof's under that blanket".

The car ran beautifully. Winding out to the redline in 3rd with
the top down is certainly an experience
We did have a few random starter motor failures, my better
half an I can now push start it in under 2 car lengths,
that's something to look into during the week...

Along the way we decided that the new standard for
measurement of fuel-economy should be grins-per-litre
(or perhaps smiles-per-gallon, for North Americans).

Here are some photos.... (Sorry about the crappy phone-camera quality)

Exactly. And that's why sports cars aren't supposed to have tops. Enjoy it.

Hi Sam,

glad you're enjoying it. You would probably have have gone very close to my home town, Moyhu.

Hi Frank,

In fact, we did go through Moyhu.
We took the back-road from Mansfield, through Moyhu, to Oxley
before heading back down to Bright via Myrtelford.

Cheers,

Sam

If you are ever going up that way again on a weekend, let me know and we can meet up. Unfortunately my car is still not going and is sitting exactly where it is at left. I'll get to it one day, but that's another story.
Where are you in Melb? I'm in West Melb so I can walk to work in the city.

Cheers,

Frank

OMG!! Someone stole your steering wheel and then maliciously stuck it into the dashboard on the right side! Those Aussies!

Hi Frank,

I'm in East Hawtorn, I ride my bike to work in Prahran, takes about 20 mins.
My girlfriend's dad has a prius, but I like my bicycle/porsche hybrid way better,
uses less fuel per week, keeps me fit, keeps me smiling. Driving a prius will never make you smile.

Dan, I see you're in SB. I worked near the corner of Storke and Holister for a couple of years around '99, and lived down in Isla Vista. If you ever noticed
a guy driving a beat-up Ford F150 with a surfbaord in the back, on the wrong
side of the road, that was me.
You have some great twisty roads to play on in the hills there, enjoy.

Sam
