Default Maybe I need to change my nick now.

Used my '84 944 as a trade-in on this beauty:

It's a 1980 911SC with 108k Miles. The car looks in really nice shape, inside and out and runs strong.

It has a few chips in the paint, and some bubbling under the front driver headlight that need to be looked at, but all in all, its a pretty well taken care of car.

I've had three water-pumpers (931, and two 944's) before, but this is my first air-cooled car. May have to start looking into getting a tail for it, and maybe some rims (although the color-matched rims do look pretty nice).

Great looking car and good choice on the color. I agree with you i think a tail would really finish off the look of the car

Nice looking car - welcome to the dark side. If you add a tail then add a chin spoiler too or look for some interesting handling above 75 mph.

Welcome to the air-cooled world! Looks like a "euro" based on the rear bumper pads and rear fog light. Also looks like a carerra ('84-89) front valance. You don't see color matched cookie cutters on the later cars. Enjoy!

Beautiful car, especially compared to that POS in the background of your second picture (kidding). Adding a tail is a good mod, but I am partial to them. Congrats and enjoy that baby.

Can you give some driving impressions of the 911 vs. 944? Just curious.

Nice car. I have heard the guys at Park Place are a set of monkeys- with overpriced cars- but it looks like you got a decent deal. (I have seen vastly overpriced cars on their website several times) I love the white cookie cutters- post more pics and congrats!

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for the compliments, the 911 is definately something I've always wanted.

After all is said and done the car is costing me 14k, so not a horrible deal, and the guys at Park Place were a decent bunch of guys to do business with.

It's still too early for me to really make comments on it compared to the 944. I've only been driving the 911 off and on for a week, and 944's for many years. I will say, it's a completely different experience. This is probably due to my unfamiliarity with the car as of yet, but from the limited driving I have done, the 944 seemed more solid on the road at higher speeds than the 911 does. I get a little nervous when I punch the 911 up near triple digits. I just dont feel as "stuck to the road".

Currently the car has Aquatread tires on it (goodyear i think?), never owned a set of them before and maybe they arent the best thing to have on this car.

Once I warm up to the car a bit more, things may be different.

Regardless, I love the car already...

Very nice car, welcome to the other side. I just traded my 90 C4 for an 80 SC and love it.

i'll play devil's advocate here......hold off on the tail and let that classic unbroken 911 rear line grow on you. that's a great looking car....

Congrats on the Euro (ROW) SC.

Someone has installed the Carrera style lower front valance, fog lights, and washer bottle (assuming you washer system is intact). A nice PLUS for sure.

Enjoy...
