Default How many 3.2 Turbo Looks were made?

Anyone know how many were made for the 83-89 model run? How many were brought to the U.S.? How many were coupes and how many cabs?

I just got a ride in my neighbors '86 Factory Turbo Look Cab. 1 of 8 brought to the US that model year. OMG. I've been a Porsche fan since I was 5. That was my first ride in a Porsche and first ride in a convertible and I'm hooked. It was just amazing. I can't get that engine/exhaust sound out of my head. I barely slept that night.

These numbers are the official PCNA numbers, but are not entirely accurate because of inadequate recordkeeping at the time. The true numbers are probably slightly higher.

Are those how many were made worldwide or how many were brought to the US?

My neighbor's car looks very similar to yours, it's also white.

Since it is from Porsche NA I would guess the cars brought into North America. I will see if I can dig up the numbers on the total production.

Thanks for looking though. This has to be one of my favorite Air-cooled 911's ever w/ exception of the slant nose.

Anyone know why production suddenly dropped from '86 on?

The 930 (911 Turbo) was not available from model year 1980 to model year 1985 in the US. The M491 option code introduced for model year 1984 was Porsche's answer to giving US customer's at least a Turbo body shell and underpinnings when the actual Turbo was not available.

For model year 1986, the 930 was once again available in US dealerships, therefore the M491 cars had a drop in sales. With the premium charged for the M491 option (Turbo Look option) being about $10,000 to $15,000, it wasn't much more of a stretch to just get the Turbo.

Hope this helps,

Jay

These are only U.S. numbers. In Europe, the TL was called the SuperSport, or the SSE. I have never seen any production numbers for the European market.
