Collector's car insurance

I'm using Grundy Worldwide for my '89. "Stated Value" insurance where I decide the value of my car. So far so good, but no claims, so all I can say is they are responsive in collecting my money. However, their rates are reasonable. You can get a quote on their site: http://www.grundy.com/

Funny, I went to Grundy's website, was THRILLED with the quote on my '84 Cab ($383 / yr, comp & collision, $300k liability), called them to discuss limitations on mileage, etc., and was told "sorry, we can't cover that vehicle, it's a high-risk type of car, like the Ferrari, Cobra, and so on".
They said they WILL cover it if it's part of a collection, but not by itself.
So Grundy, not so much.

Mine is just a pleasure vehicle, not an every day car. It's part of my "collection" of one. I have no mileage restrictions but can't use it for everyday mundane tasks like driving to work in rush hour, going shopping, etc. No one under 21 can drive it (good because my 15-year old just got his permit). So for these restrictions which don't impact me at all the way I use the car, my investment is protected if something happens at a rate that is a fraction of what State Farm would charge for their book value coverage.
