Default installing PMO/Webers fuel pump ?

I have installed webers on my 3.0 litre and I have been told that I should use the Facet pump due to the fact it only puts out a max of 6psi. My stock pump puts out over 60psi that was used on CIS. My question is how do I attach the new pump due to the fact that the fittings are completly different. THanks

Hi:

You need one of the special fuel pressure regulators that PMO makes specifically for these applications. Thsi will reduce the FP down to 3.5 psi which is precisely what Webers need.

Don't use a Facet pump on ANYTHING.

Default weber fuel pump

Thank you very much for your response this is a great site. One question though, are you say to still use the stock pump and get a fuel pressure regulator from PMO. Thanks

Additionally (to what Steve said), the Facet fuel pump is a piece of junk. The volumn is very low on those pumps.

There are fuel pumps you can use to do the job correctly, but the Facet isn't the one.

In the end... the PMO fuel pressure regulator what you want for this car.

yes that is exactly what Steve said - and exactly what Richard Parr told me to do with his carbs. Your Bosch pump is far higher in quality than most aftermarket pumps, incl. the Facet

the pressure reg. comes with a nice gauge on it & is only about $40 or you can get the prettier one for $80

I would replace the standard Bosch FI pump for something with lower pressure. Again I agree that the Facet is useless.

I ran the above Holly pump on 40 Webbers and 50 PMO's. Worked well.

It is rather easy to make a plan to make the new pump fit. In the proces I'd move the pump from below the car to inside the front compartment. Neater and cleaner.

If the pump is remounted it should go on the F Xmember like P AG did it.

Yes, a new low-pressure (LP) pump will cost more than keeping a 25 year old HP pump - but it does have certain benefits. A HP pump will tend to build up too much pressure before the regulator, creating bubbles, damaging the regulator, etc. An old pump can often be irregular and even full of dirt. I also find it easier to 'manage' the fuel supply and setting up the carbs when using a high-quality high-flow pump designed for carbs.

The only reason for fitting the pump in the front compartment (if space is available) is to protect against dirt, moisture, damage and for accessibility. No operational gain.

Regards, Tom

This is the pump to use if you are not going to use the factory pump (I still recommend using the factory pump and the PMO regulator though...)

Carter 4070

A single pump is good for 300HP. If you need more volumn, then you can use two in parallel.

You do not use any fuel pressure regulator with these fuel pumps.
