Default Best Manual?

This is my first Porsche and it did not come with a service manual. What is your reconmendation for an after market manual? I've searched the web and there seems to be quite a variety of price ranges. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Welcome to Rennlist, the 911 world, and congrats!

I assume you mean manual for repair, right? THe Bentley Maunual is, far and away, the best one available. It is not perfect, but is the most comprehensive and has good, clear photos. It'll run you about $90 ...check ebay or the Pelican board. If you can pick one up used, even cheaper.

Yep - Bentley and I suggest 101 Projects for your Porsche 911 by Dempsey (like 20 bucks) both very good.

Yup... what they said, between Bently's and Wayne's 101 projects that will give you most all of what you need to know. There are some more out there but these 2 are the best. I personally would stay away from haynes or chiltons...but that's just my opinion... Some here have said that they do offer a few good points.

Default Thanks !

Bentleys it is. I have the 101 projects already and agree that it is a good one. I appreciate the feedback, this is a great group.

Hey don't knock my haynes manual , it does a great job as a paper weight keeping the pages from turning on my Bently..

The Factory Workshop manual is the most thorough.

Default Pelican Parts and Rennlist Tech Articles are ...

excellent, too. I've only had my first Porsche for a couple months and I've never had so much fun in my life working on and owning a car.

A couple hints I've found. Wayne Dempsey had to abridge the "101" book quite a bit just so it wouldn't be 400 pages long but the tech articles from some of his friends on the Pelican website really add depth for many of his project ideas plus more and better pictures. Unfortunately I figured this out after I did a couple projects straight from Wayne's book.

You can't beat the help you get from the regulars like Peter Z, Steve W, Randy Webb and a host of others who are knowledgeable beyond compare. You may get badly flamed if you don't do a good search job before you ask a question but just hold your breath and ask. The Porsche community and the Rennlist and Pelican groups may be snooty at times but they're best there is, bar none!

Same question, but for a 1969 911T.

I have the 101 projects book.
