This book I have, "Porsche 911 Performance Handbook" says that 7x16s will usually have front tire clearance problems - even if the car is not lowered, but especially if it is lowered???
If you go with 7x16, you can use 205/55 without any issue whatsoever. If you go to a 225/50, then you may get rubbing, typically from the driver's side. You can roll the fender, or just stick with the 205/55.

The 7" front works just fine with either the 8" or 9" rear Fuch. If you really want to get more rubber up front and to better balance with a 9" rear, source out 8x16s from a 944 (the p/n will begin with 951...). These are not easy to come by, and they will cost you.

Thanks for the input. I just saw these 9s on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...QQcmdZViewItem

Is this around what I should expect to pay? Not cheap.

Not only can you get 245s in the rear, but the offset is perfect; your wheels/tires really fill out the wells perfectly giving you a nice, agressive/sporty stance, especially if you're going down to euro height.

My '72 car with SC flares does fine with 245's on 8x15's in the rear.

If given the choice 16's do make much more sense as there are better tires available. But 245's are very do-able on the rear with 8x15 fuch's.

For a street car, I'd stick with the 205 front tires. 225s can fit, but you may get some rubbing issues... not worth it and not necessary for a street car... 205 is plenty of tire for the front, and will track better.

You can do a 225 or 245 in the rear. If you have 8 or 9 inch wheels the 245 is a good choice and it will help keep the rear under control. These cars can definately use the extra tire in the back

Talking Fuch 16" Wheels

I have 16x7 and 16x9 wheels with 205/55 front and 245/45 rear Dunlop tires. When I bought the car it had been lowered to Euro height and the front tires rubbed under hard cornering or if the gas tank was full. I raised the car 1" and still can rub the front tires if really pushing it. The rears fit fine at any height. I have resisted rolling the front fenders as I wanted to keep the car original but am rethinking that logic as I start doing DEs and autocross.

G50, our cars look almost like twins with the exception of the 911SC emblem on the back of your car.
