I thought I would post a brief review of these wires for anyone thinking of upgrading or otherwise replacing their OEM plug wires. I have been doing a lot of fine tuning on my 87 Carrera as of late getting it dialed in for DE duties. I have upgraded the brakes, done a little exhaust tweaking, and installed a tunable Mass Air Flow system. In the process of doing this I have replaced all sorts of parts and done tons of basic maintenance (I just got the car last summer with 100K on it and the records were not clear enough for me to tell what had and had not been replaced).
When I took the car to my mechanic for a tech session last month prior to a day at Willow Springs, he mentioned that I should replace the rotor, cap, and wires. I just had a chance to do this using the Magnecor 8.5 wires (there is a very nice DIY write-up on Pelican at http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75157&highlight=Magnecor ).
In any event, I was pleasantly surprised to feel my car run even smoother after putting the new wires in (not to mention these wires were at $105 from Apex Performance - about half of what an OEM Beru set would cost). So one more yes vote for Magnecors.

Very true Stephen - those wires came from you (as would have these if I wasn't so impatient
- I was pleased that they actually did seem to make a noticeable difference - even in a car that was in a good state of tune ot start with.
Now if I can just get the AC to work on the 930...

When you are driving back from a track day in the desert or in the High Sierra in the summer and it si 95 degrees outside, rolling the windows down doesn't cut it. I actaully got a mild case of heat stroke last year driving for about 6 hours in heat like that.

I just installed a set of Magnecors in my '73 911S. The car had not been running well for the past several thousand miles. I would get a tune up and within 100 miles the car would return to it's sluggish pre-tune performance. The car would also hesitate at higher RPMs. This past winter I revamped the whole suspension and when finished I decided to look at the engine which lead to my purchase.
After I installed the wires, I started the engine and immediately I noticed a difference. My car has carbs and fouls (fouled- maybe it's in the past now) pretty easily, but the car started much better and hardly stumbled as it did before. Throttle response was much better and now the car revs easily, or like it should. The most impressive thing is that I haven't had a tune up yet. I can't wait to see how the car performs then.
I never thought that replacing spark plug wires would make much of a difference. I guess they detiorate after 30 years.
I got mine from Apex Performance. Clark's prices were the best, and he's a friendly guy as well.
