Default shifter ****

Hi Guys

My shifter **** is pretty beat up and I was thinking of replacing it on my 78 SC. The rest is pretty original except my **** ...hmmm....

does anyone have a pic of the one that came with the car so I know what to look for ?

( sorry , that 's the only way I could phrase things without asking if anyone has a picture of my ****.... )

thanks..

...let's see, was it oak, mahogany, or... I think that it was handcarved with a rearing horse, on second thought that might have been a Ferrari that I almost got to sit in once... or does it show a 4-speed pattern, unless you have a 5-speed, or maybe it blinks red when the alarm is set, or, maybe it was hand-stitched Connolley leather embossed with the profile of a 904, or, I think, it could have been black plastic. Yeah, that's it - black plastic! Seriously, the head of the **** is basically round, slightly flatter on top where the shift pattern is displayed inside of a circle. I think...

i don't know about y'all but that stock **** has the greatest feel, love it...
i wouldn't mind popping out the pattern and putting a crest in there, anybody ever done that or seen a stock duplicate with one?

Yeah, I traded an "ergonomic" MOMO shift **** for the original. The lower "old school" position of the Carrera shifter demands a different-shaped **** than the newer Miata-style position.

This one was is in my SC and was in it when I purchased it in 1984. I think it's aftermarket, although the shape and feel is like the original. I fixed the little nick so I've got the original feel with the crest. I've always liked it with my cork interior.
