Harry,

If you haven't already, check eBay periodically. I recently won a NOS pair of old Brumos frames on the 'Bay. There were some Vasek Polak frames on there at the time as well, so I would imagine that there are some nice Stoddard frames out there.

By the way, long live the 912...my first Porsche was #453551, an Anthracite/Red 1966 model. Wish I still had it!!

Hi jack,

i try to look on ebay when i can, but they never have stoddards ones

fwiw, at least from what i understand the brumos arent NOS.. brumos still puts those on their cars, from what i have been told. Also alot of the Vasek Polak ones are reporductions (yup, someones reproduced them, and selling them as NOS). i forget how to spot the fakes. i think its either the city listed on the plate, or the way its layed out or somthing along those lines.

i have a friend who has a friend who is a sales manager at brumos.. he is going to try to get me one from him if i cant find a stoddards. (being from ohio though, im really determined to get the stoddards though).

wow, thats a great year for a 912! i love the early ones. Did it have a 3 guage dash? if so was it a painted one or black? those are my favorites

you know, it is never too late to get another one and we have a great 912 following in GA, FL and the Carolinas.

Hi, Harry,

Yep, it was a 3 gauge 912. The dash was painted flat/semigloss black, not body color like the really early cars. It had a gorgeous red interior (seats and side panels) with charcoal square weave carpeting. I bought it from Brumos on 2/28/72 for the princely sum of $2500!

On the repo Vasek Polak tag frames, there is a casting symbol missing on the back side of the frame. The Brumos frames I got appear to be the real deal. They are a tad shelfworn and don't appear to have been made recently. In any event, they look just like the ones I had in the 70's. I still have a "Peter Gregg Porsche+Audi" frame that I got from his short-lived delership in Atlanta in the late 70's when I relocated to the peach state.

Good luck on your search. That is half the fun, you know!
