Spark Plugs
#16
I think the R just means it has a resistor in it...
BTW, the plugs alone did it. I got it started & drove to a Chvron station for new gas - put a 1/2 hour on the car after it got warmed up. So it should be fine now...

Ian, the resistor in a spark plug (or wire) is ther eto prevent electronic emissions from degrading your engine computer or your radio in the cockpit.
Now, if you have resistive spark plug wires, AND then use resistor type plugs, maybe you have too much resistance. I dunno.
YOu have an '87 as per your sig. That means you definitely have DME EFI and it includes a computer to control that and the ignition. Some resitance in the plug or wires is very very likely, altho I don't have one of them new fangled cars....
What plug does the owner's manual say to use?

Thanks Randy
Manual says: Bosch WR7DC (can't find), Bosch WR7DP (platinum so I stayed away due to other posts), Champion RN7YC (can't find).
I got the NGK BP8ES recommend from a post somewhere . . .
I have stock wires.
