Default 1989 911 Cab Value

Need another summer toy. Just wondering what the value of a 1989 911 Cab with 110,000 miles would be. The car is 3x black, completely stock, has a new power top, new tires, straight and true. Thanks in advance for your help.

Also, car has full FVD exhaust. Dealer asking $22k. What are you thoughts? Good/fair deal or just buck up to 993 Cab for $12-15K more?

My .02 worth... Although there's certainly nothing to be concerned about with 110K miles showing, imo, for $22K (at that mileage), the rest of the car should be in VERY good condition (mechanicals, body, and interior). $22K should put you in a G50 Carrera in great condition. You are definitely paying for the dealer's profit...if it were me, I'd look to purchase a well kept example from an enthusiast.

Geographical location and the time of year influences pricing in many instances. In my area, this car could bring $22k easy enough if the car is solid and has no major flaws. $17,000-$20,000 might be the price point if it was fall and snow was looming or the car had issues. A 1989 3.2 Cab is a pretty solid 911. Not many flaws to note.

The 993 is a completely different 911. Much more modern in feel, much more hp and torque (a very tangible difference), better A/C, easier to shift, more comfort and convenience features, etc., etc. Only you can determine whether or not you want to have a 3.2 Cab or a 993 Cab. Drive examples of both cars and see which on you like best. They are very different.

The 3.2's seems to have leveled out in depreciation a bit. In some instances, values have risen just a touch. I would guesstimate that 993 values will still be falling slightly yet.

Good Luck!

Drive them both and then decide. Obviously you aren't pigeonholed into a price range, so it would behoove you to taste what your money can buy. As Jay mentioned, the 993 is completely and utterly different from the 3.2. While some of the sounds, smells, and looks are there, the rawness of the 3.2 is not there, the ergonomics are different, it has power steering, a different feel to the brakes, more power from the motor, more weight, and different styling.

The 993 is like a pseudo-luxury car compared to the 3.2. Don't get me wrong, I still miss my 993 these days, it was one of the best cars I've ever owned, but it is a completely different experience compared to a 3.2.

You have 2 very solid choices in mind, so please let us know what you decide to do!
