Default 911 vs two TT rx7s

first one was my buddies, it has full exhaust and an intake. also has a brand new motor just broke it in. we went driving and did a couple 2nd gear rolls each time i pulled away at top of third and managed about half a car on him through 4th. then we went froma dig but he spun his *** off...this is where part two comes in

all of a sudden i notice my buddy is way back so i figure i let off and wait cuz i kknew he spun bad off the line, im in top of 3rd and letting it whine down when a car flyes by my buddy and gets beside me, what is it?? nothing other then another lightly modded rx7, he nods to me and i nod and we take off from 3rd gear i pull him, not as hard as i did my buddy but i still manage to pull off the win the guy slows down and backs off after that and wont bother with my buddy.

it was a good tuesday night for the 911.

Love my 911 and all...but there is no way any 911 hangs with a 3rd gen Mazda Rx-7 TT in any acceleration contest! Those cars were rocketships. Must have caught somone off boost!

yeah the third gen cars were fast, It must not have been running right.......................... Challenge him to a race to see who's car will catch on fire first, his car will win that one for sure

the first race was between a buddy and me so he was prepared. its a brand new motor so it may not be running right, but i still pulled the other rx7, and the guy was ready to run me. what are the chances of running two off tuned rx7s in one night, i dobt that.

whats so hard to beleive that i beat him. it wasnt by alot at all i edged ahead but i still won. i mean it wasnt even by like half a car lenth but i did pull him

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I am saying that, in this type of context, it should have been no contest...the Rx-7 should have wiped the road up with you. They are brutally fast cars. Just on paper, that car is close to 400 lbs lighter than yours, and has, what 50 more HP? In real world settings, the Mazdas were even faster than they were supposed to be. A roll-on race gives a turbo car time to spool. Don't get me wrong, though...I'd still much prefer an 87 targa!!

I was just looking through this forum and did a little search and saw this thread. I have been contemplating buying a 993 NA for a while, but I just can seem to get rid of my FD RX7. I have driven many 993's and I have owned several 3rd gens. All I can say is a 3rd gen in stock form will hang and pull on a 993 not to mention destroy a 3.2 liter car. I used to own a 1980 SC and that car was quick off the line, but no where as wicked at the FD. It weighs 2700lbs and puts down ridiculous amounts of power. Also, if your buddy had full exhaust meaning a downpipe HF cat and catback w/ intake there is no way it could hang. Since you're local you want to take another shot or ride in my car you're more than welcome. I'll show you what a properly tuned 3rd gen can do. With my old setup- stock twins and a few bolt ons I laid down 326 to the wheels. With my new Apexi RX6 single turbo setup I haven't dynoed it yet, but I'm guessing somewhere around 400wrhp. Again that's why I can't get rid of the FD. Yes, it's not a Porsche and the build quality isn't there, but the power to weight ratio and sheer fun at the track makes up for it. Plus, when I'm smoking Z06's and new 911's brings a smile to my face.

Oh and I carry a large fire extinguisher on my roll bar!

Moreover, not trying to bust your *****, but my E30 M3 will hang w/ a 80's 3.2

Ummm....no, it won't. The E30 M3 was a homologation special car. It rips only in its high rev ranges. On the track, it's a neat little car with a great race history. Everywhere else, it feels like a badly tuned 318. An SC (3.0) or a Carrera 3.2 will eat its lunch all day long, in just about any speed contest, including top speed. I have three friends that bought E30 M3s as track cars, only to sell them after a year out of shear boredom...only so much fun to be had with a "momentum" car.

ok this point has been beaten to death, either way i won. maybe they just suck at driving. your car is far from stock so a race between us would be like me challenging some one who cant walk to a sprint race, makes no sence.

but feel free to bring your car out it looks great and id love to see it. you should tag along on a local drive im going on soon. ill pm you info. i have nothing aginst the rx7s except for how oftin they seem to break, other then that id drive one in a heart beat.
