I have a 75 911s with a 2.7 and the thing has 160,000 on it (rebuilt at 111,000). Had to take it in to the wrench last week (wouldn't start), the points were closed and the mixture needed to be set. I ask him is there anything else that needs to be done to it,he said, "just drive it". I use it as a third car and don't really drive it that much, but if and when it finally Dies, I'll go with a 3.0 and just have it rebuilt or find one already rebuilt. Why worry about a rebuild now, if the thing checks out after the PPI, then get it, you won't be sorry. Even if you have to rebuild it after 20 to 40,000 miles after purchase, that's 20 to 40,000 miles of enjoyment NOW!!!! Besides, it's cheaper than a boat!!!!!
