I appreciate all your comments. And sincere thanks to Jack, Dave and PanzerKardinal (perhaps you should update that to PanzerPope?) who posted the photos to prove that the aircon can live without the whale tail. I know that common sense says that should be so but, as St Thomas once said, "Seein's believin".
Panzer: tell us about that set-up? it looks so good. Are those things carbies? Can you tell us of your experiences with the Kueh. The idea of having the condenser in the LH rear fender and leaving the engine lid free flowing seems a great idea. It's bloody hot where I come from.
Bill: I will be getting someone other than an authorised dealer to check and, maybe, care for this car. I have had my last unpleasant experience at the dealerships.
