Default 1968 911L

Is this a desirable model? Low mileage very original. Things I should look for?

The 911L is an interesting one-year only Porsche, as it is basically a 911S with a normal 911 engine. The 911S would not pass USA emission laws in '68, so the L ("Lux", or luxury) was the upgraded 911 in Porsche's line. Not sure of the market values on these, but they seem to be quite scarce, especially in good condition. The '68 was the first "smog" Porsche, and in the old days, some would shy away from them for this reason.

Areas of concern are the same as in any earlier 911 - body rust, oil leaks, transmission synchros, timing chain tensioners, etc. A pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic that speaks early 911 is essential!
