Seriously, the only cars that are going to retain their original paint AND look good yet are cars that are very babied and never get driven, or are driven in conditions that will never expose them to large amounts of traffic or road debris. As Ian says, every time you take it on the road, you're gonna get some chip here or there.
If you are seriously competing in concours, then stop driving and park it. Otherwise, just keep driving it and enjoying it and respray it when it needs it.
The respray on my brother's most recent 911 purchase was a PLUS to him since the car looked good for being so old.

The P.O. of my 82 SC had some minor fender work done and decided to paint the entire car, matching the original color. Entire cost $5,000+ (I don't have my records with me).

Mine was stripped and fully repainted two years ago. it had some panels painted before that, and it wasn't done properly (chipped easily), so all paint was removed for a quality respray. the car has 260K kms on it.
