The color code of the gray paint used for his 930 was: Porsche 615-9-2

Default Sherwin Williams color code

This is the correct equivalent for the GLasurit Slate grey paint.

Sherwin Williams = 8369 Slate Grey

Glasurit = PORSCHE 615 1963-1964
Porsche Schiefergrau
AKA code 6601

The lemans McQueen car was slate gray. Stunning in person. Tell your buddy that changing the color will significantly impact value regardless of paint quality, especially if SG was not available at the time of the generation in question. In case that matters.
(And that coming from a grump that is deeply embarrassed for every owner that has ever "backdated" anything.)

I don't know. Seeing the crazy prices for the decidedly non-stock hot rod mod backdates these days, I don't know that the color issue matters so much anymore.

Venice. You didn't happen to camp at the Sonoma races a few weeks ago, did you?

Tim

A friend of mine bought that car and paid a lot of money for it at the time. I know a lot of folks were chuckling behind his back but he had the last laugh when it sold for $1,250,000 ($1,375,000 with premium). This guy could prognosticate with the best of them. I never bet against him.
Here is the auction at Monterey in 2011:

Anyone knows where the car is now? Who is the owner now?

(I have something special to share.)
