9" Fuchs question
I know there has been much discussion on this, but I want to make absolutely sure before I make the purchase. I have a chance to get some used 16 x 9" Fuchs, and I need to know for sure, will they fit on a non-widebody 1988 911. It has been lowered to 25 ' in the front and 24.5 " in the rear.

I am running 9's in the rear with 245/45/R16's. My 1987 Carerra is lowered, the fender lips are rolled and I am running -2.5 degrees of camber. But remember not all 911's fender lips are the same because they were hand built.

Should fit fine! I run 9's w/245/45s in the back of my SC with a .25" spacer. Plenty of room on inside and outside of fenderwell. Even without the spacer they are fine. Enjoy!

Wheel Enhancement is getting new 9" Fuchs
They are getting them from the factory. I found mine used from a broker in Chicago. I called every used Porsche parts vendor on the net and listed in Panorama, and finally found these. I am planning on getting them polished by Al Reed, and one vendor said he thought buying new ones and getting them stripped and polished was a waste. Al told me that I had to be careful with the used ones because they may be so pitted and corroded that he can't really get them nicely refinished. He is going to look at them before he refinishes them. Wheel enhancement buys the wheels from the factory and sells them for quite a lot of money. They will polish them for $125 while Al does it for $75. There is another place in Miami I saw in the classifieds in Panorama that also sells new Fuchs.
PS- my car is also a white Targa with matching 15x7/8 wheels!

maybe I'm getting the run around because I'm a woman but I have asked WE, Parts Heaven and a couple others and all have said they don;t have the new OEM fuchs and that they are not being made any longer ??? I've been told that there are "aftermarket" Fuchs being made and I know Lindsey was making nice 17" Fuchs.
If you have contact info for someone who has a new set of 9x16's please PM me. I'll get my hubby to call them

Luus- call Dave at wheel enhancement. I have talked to him twice and he told me just last week that Fuch's is starting to remake the 16 x9 due to high demand, but that they were out of them, and had them on order from Germany. Good luck.

As expensive as the new ones might be, keep in mind that a lot of the used Fuchs on the market are decades old. The aluminum alloy used to make the Fuchs has a finite lifespan (it's not the age, per se, but the cumulative amount of actual stress the wheels are subjected to). After a certain amount of use, the wheels begin to crack, usually at the hubs.
The percentage of Fuchs developing cracks is still very low, but it's going to continue to increase as the years pass.
