Default Sunroof seals

Okay, I know this has been answered on the forum before, and I've read the Pelican how-to, but here's my dilema. Last weekend I was washing my P-car. The sunroof seal on the back was worn. The front half was "loose" already and I knew it was a matter of time before I had to repair it. However it was still attached. Until I was "chamoising(?)" the car dry. I took a big ole swipe across the roof to knock off the water droplets and as I rub over the sunroof darn if the felt rear seal doesn't just pull out of the gap. My question is this. If I retract the sunroof can I get at that seal enough to put a new one in or does the roof really have to come out? I'm ordering the parts from Pelican today. Its a 20 year 930 Eurospec with the original headliner intact. I'd really hate to screw it up trying to undo the mechanisms and etc to get the roof out. In addition, the roof doesn't leak, is aligned perfectly and works just fine. I'd hate to screw it up just to get this stupid piece of fabric replaced. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks in advance for your help.

Those felt seals dont seal out water, your sunroof has drains for that, the felt keeps leaves and other crap out, to keep from plugging the drains. To do the seals right, the roof panel should come out, easy job to remove, just dont F*#@ with the adjusting screws or you will endup scratching your roof panel when you close it!!!!!! (thats how those scratches get there)

Get a Bently manual, or look up a DIY, you dont need to mess with the headliner, just the roof panel headliner itself, which comes out easy. Tricky part is cleaning and gluing the seal straight. I have it down to a science, they look SO good with new seals.

you have to remove it to do the seal on the panel (the one that goes across the rear) but you might be able to sneak the front......don't know as I always do both at the same time.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at it again last night and rapidly coming to that conclusion. I'll try and do it this weekend.
