Default Horn for 911

Has anyone else noticed the horn being extremely weak in the 911s or is there just something wrong w/ mine? Driving the other day, a car started changing lanes on me... tried to honk as I worked to get out of the way, but they never heard the horn. I'm pretty sure it wasn't that their stereo was up terribly loud or anything based on the type of car and characteristics of the person driving.

So... has anyone done anything to make the horn "beefier" and more noticeable? Minor thing really, but when you need it, it'd be nice to be heard.

911's have dual horns. One is a low tone, one is a high tone. It could be that one of the horns is not working on your car. When the horns are working, it's definitely a very European sounding horn, but they are effective and loud enough.

Patrick: Jay is absolutely correct. Both horns are mounted in the right front corner of the car, forward of your oil cooler. They're a little tricky to get to, but you can do it. Pull the wire off one, then the other, and toot the horn each time. Then you'll know which one is defective, or just replace the pair.

I'll check that... I should have looked before I posted really, but thank you for the quick response.

They may be working, but might have aging diaphrams and are no longer as effective. They are loud horns when working properly. Might be worth a bit of investigation since horns can be a help in an emergency.

Good luck,

Jay

same thing happened to me. I put in compressor driven air hornes - still European sounding and VERY loud.
