Default 1970 911E value

Got one 911 so now I need another? Oh well, I am looking at a 70 E with around 55,000 undocumented miles(speedo broke at some point?). Coupe, no sunroof, sport seats, no AC, 3 owner last Owner 21 years. Never hit, original paint(red).... Head just rebuilt, some upgrades to bars and brakes. Hydro suspension gone.

Nice car with oil leaks at the cases being the only blip. What is it worth?

Thanks for any help,

Steve

IMHO, if there are no rusts and the results from a PPI is good, I would pay between 12k to 16k.

A '70 E is one of the best early 911's. Rarer than the 911S. And for my money, a better all around drive. Does it have the correct and functioning MFI? Critical to its value. Those sport seats are worth about $4,000 for the pair. Is it really the original polo red? That's a deeper, darker red than the bright '80's guards red. What's the paint code on the door frame? Does it have the original hinged door pockets? Those are NLA and could be worth almost $1,000 for the pair. Original orange bar hood ornament? That's worth $500. Get a thorough PPI from a shop that knows early 911's.

I'd pay $12-16K for it too. Because if that oil drip is only minor, it has it's original MFI, that car's worth well over $20,000. If interior and exterior bits are in place, could be worth almost $30,000. Congrats on your find.

OK Has the original MFI, original polo red, original door pockets (interior looks perfect), original hood ornament. Wow, did not know more than the seats had great value? I am planning on sending it out for PPI next week. The price is at the low end of the estimates so it sounds like I should go for it.

Bad news, I just got the Porsche promo t-shirt in the mail on the Cayman!!! Have to sell all the toys for that though??

Thanks
Steve

Yes. Go for the Cayman. And point me to that 911E.

By the way, it all seems good UNLESS you've got engine rebuild issues. A rebuild on an early 911 can easily run you $10,000.

Good luck. Hey. Does it have the original tool kit? Or the original radio?

What size Fuchs is it running?

Yep, has the radio and tool kit. Bad news, just found out it has been re-sprayed once in its life? Probably around 83.

15 X 6 Fuchs Engine I feel will be strong as this guy is a mechanic and is guaranteeing it will check out. We will see?

Respray won't hurt you if it's a quality job. If the Fuchs are 15x6 "Deep Dish" versus the later "flat" 15x6 Fuchs, you have hit the freakin' jackpot! Congrats. Hard to beat a 2.2 E for all around smiles.

I've had my '70e for 15 years now. The E is a great motor with plenty of power for passing on the road and easier to drive around town than an S. I can still get 26 mpg on a round trip to Crowley Lake from Orange County. A '70e in poor condition is probably worth about $10k but one in great shape is worth at least $15k.

Randy:
Crowley lake is north of Bishop on hwy 395 between Bishop and Mammoth lakes.
Bishop Ca. is 300 miles north of Garden Gove where I live. That's where I make my gas stop. Crowley is about another 25 miles north. There are many lakes in that aria.
