Been there buddy. I never got to go for a ride in one though, but I knew that I loved them, and I still do. My $0.02cdn, save now, buy a 944 when you're sixteen or able to drive. It gets you into a Porsche and is a great entry vehicle, you're friends will worship you and I'm sure there would be nothing better than driving a better car than all your teachers Plus, you can get a decent one for a reasonable price. You may have to get the folks to help with the insurance though, there's a certain stigma with insurance companies and Porsche. I did it with a 944 Turbo (although a bit older than you when I did it) and am now looking for a 911. Good luck.

I was born when they made 911 #1...the 356 was still coming out the assembly line...when I was 14, they released the 3.0 SC...which is the one you should start saving right now, in order to get as your entry level Porsche...the most affordable of the "modern" ones...good luck...

Before the Porsche...you should buy Peter Zimmermann's book "The used 911 story" and read it back to back two or three times to start educating yourself...

I bought my 951 when I was 16 and i ended up getting a bad grade in one of my classes because one of my teachers thought I was just another spoiled rich kid. Little did she know that I had saved since I was 7 for the car. This is when I was able to sit in my cousins 944 n/a and make car sounds (like everyother 7 year old). I have since sold my 951 and am looking at buying a 90 964 c4 cab.

Good luck in your search for a car!!

I bought my first Porsche at 19. Drove them for over twenty years. Then decided it was time to get back into a Porsche again after a ten year hiatus. I ordered my lastest one a couple months ago,--waiting until May 06 to pick it up at Zuffenhausen.

Study hard and get good grades. Go to college. It's an investment in yourself with the payoff being a good job/salary that will offord you the luxury of owning the car of your dreams. I'm 35 and just bought my 1st Porsche and it was worth the wait. It would be pretty cool to get a 944 for your 1st car too!

"Study hard and get good grades. Go to college."

and pick a major that cannot be outsourced... If you are smart and get an MD do NOT go into Radiology or any other specialty that can be done a continent away -- and remember, with teleoperation and robotics, that MAY well include surgical specialties...

When I was 14, Porsches still had drum brakes! Shortly after that, I bought my first one ('64 SC coupe), and never looked back. I'm on #'s 8 and 9 right now.
As others have said, stay focused & study hard. You'll have more fun with these cars than a human being should be allowed.
