If you haven't already, please do a search, as this gets discussed in multiple forums with regularity.

I use the battery operated Escort SOL0 S2. No cords, uses too many batteries at times, but I drive more than most people do and don't like the cords running all over the place. My buddy has a great non battery model and we tested them side by side the other day, he was dropping me off to pick up my car and just did it for grins. They both responed at the same time. This was always a concern for me, that it was not as good running on batteries. And yes, I still get tickets. But, a lot less then if I did not have the detector.

Joey,

IMHO...V-1 is the only way to go.

I used to have the Escort Solo until I did a side-by-side test with a V-1. The advanced warning from the V-1 was always 3 or 4 seconds ahead of the Solo. Also, virtually no false alarms with the V-1.

V1 is number one. Wish it was smaller though!

Yep

Stealth means that it can not be seen by radar detector detectors as they are illegal here ,.. er... not that I would ever buy one ... but thanks.

I have an Escort. Worked fine, however out here in the west, on the open road, they don't use radar much, they pace you instead. I was stopped by a UHP and no radar was detected by my Escort, the reason, the UHP told me that most sport cars have detectors, so using radar to catch them was worthless. They now pace behind you. They have software in the car, on their computer that can calculate your speed based on their speed, the distance between you and him and the time it takes for him to catch you. He said your speed is calculated with a 99% confidence level and it will hold up in court. In Utah anyway, my detector has not gone off for a couple of years now. I don't even bother with it.

Your best defense against tickets is resonable speed and keen outlook.

Good luck!

Regards,
Jim

One other option that I think I read about here on the board was to purchase some sort of device that detects when a law enforcement officer is in the area due to the signal given off by their radios. If it is true that such a device exists, that might be a solution for people with a problem like Jim's in UT.
