I have a bell and it works just fine. Now keep in mind I don’t have all of the arrows but IMO why do I need them if the thing is going off --- slow down until it quits- that simple. I guess i'm just jealous that I don’t have a v1 cause there to darn expensive for me! lol. since I've had mine no police problems what so ever. Now I just wish that they would make one for my bike!! HEHE.

Started off with that monster Escort detector. Had it stolen. Bought the tiny Passport version that ran off 12vDC, and later moved onto the Passport with the integral 9V battery. Nice in that it has no cords,--but! Detection is everything. I went to the Valentine 1 and will be making a modification to a part of the 997S to handle the wiring.

Valentine 1 - Mike V. again - he might have gotten tired of retirement; still the best out there.

This guy is a radar genius - much like Ferd. was with cars. I'm told he really really likes Porsches too. We are lucky to have him around ...

Also, Valentine doesn't screw around - no marketing hype, no "special sales," no "new" and [not really] improved models - just the same thing, upgraded periodically (and they will upgrade yours too). Thus:
1. The old models hold their value.
2. You pay a premium price, but arguably not an excessive one.
3. You get the absolute best performance.
4. They are built like a rock.

Sound like any other products we all know and enjoy...?

I don't have confidence in the perf of batt-powered sensors during the timeframe the batt is in the "about-to-die" mode - there is a relationship between available power & sensor perf. also, w/ a dual antenna V1 in situations w/ multiple radar (&/or laser) sources (inc some moving, some fixed), I find the long detection range + direction info enables me to apply a scenario-specific response.

I recently was pulled over while using my V1 (which has saved me numerous times before). The cop shot me with Laser, the V1 blipped, but before I could slow, he had clocked me. However, when the detector went off, I glanced at my speed, and I was only over by about 5mph; the officer said I was going 12mph over. Anyway, in court, I used the following argument and won! "Your honor, the police are using what I can only assume is the most state of art speed detection equipment, and I am using what is regarded as the most state of the art speed detector detection equipment. Therefore, it is his device agains mine as I know the exact speed I was traveling when he clocked me. He says 12 over, I say 5." I backed it up with a little research about the limitations of Lidar guns such as fog, trees, and corners, all of which applied in (at least in theory) to my situation. It worked, he let me walk. So, at least in Oregon, with the right judge dedicated to life, liberty, etc. the V1 saved my wallet without keeping me from getting pulled over. No, I don't work for V1, just thought I would share. Infact, I'm against excessive speed (unless on a closed course), I just believe that drivers have a right to moniter those who are monitering us; in this case it paid off. A cop trying for his quota didn't get an easy $250 from the "rich porsche driver".

been using the solo s2 i just got...finally last night i was driving and boom..the thing went crazy,i slowed down and sure enough there was a trooper...we looked at one another and i drove away..i like the cleaness of not having any cords.i also bought some recharable batteries,so i am happy all in all.

Not the absolute best in all catagories of the reviews but the price/performance ratio was pretty good for me and I wanted a cordless.

I have the Escort 8500 and Escort Passport. The 8500 has much better range. i do not know anything about the V1 but both the Escorts have saved my A$$.

I have a Bel RX 65 and it works great, it has saved me plenty of times.

It also has a plug for an earphone jack so I use it on my sportbike too.

The editors at AutoWeek tested a bunch of high-end detectors for two months, and chose the Solo as their favorite. You'll get a bit more range with a V1 or Passport 8500, but for a lot of people, the convenience of the no-cord Solo means you'll use it "all the time" instead of "most of the time."

And if your budget allows, the remote Passport SR7 or SRX with laser jammers is the way to go. (No more suction cups!)

I have a '85 911, and my SO has a '00 Boxter. I'm about 95% sold on getting a V1. I'm wondering if any of you guys have any experience with what will amount to a dual mount configuration. IOW, we wanna swap the V1 from car to car. I was thinking of using the remote in the Boxter...Thoughts? Is this a bad idea? Should I just make him buy his own V1?

V1. No comparrison with the arrows and bogey counter. It's saved my butt many times already. Several times I would have gotten a ticket if my radar detetor didn't have a bogey counter or the arrows. Worth every penny!
